The Truth About Who You Are

There's something happening right now that you may have already noticed. Young people — the generation raised on screens, on likes, on curated versions of themselves — are turning back to faith. Not out of obligation, not because someone told them to, but out of hunger. A deep, unshakeable hunger that no algorithm can satisfy.

They're walking into churches. They're opening Bibles. They're asking questions their parents' generation was too busy to sit with. And while the reasons are many — a craving for authenticity, a weariness of digital isolation, a longing to belong to something real — underneath all of it is something even more primal.

We are all hardwired for God.

Not as a concept. Not as a comfort. But as the one who made us, knows us, and calls us by name.

The Thirst Is Real

There's a reason people are searching. And it's not just for community, though community is part of it. It's not just for meaning, though meaning matters deeply. It's because somewhere in the human soul there is a thirst that can only be quenched by a God who knows everything about you — and loves you!

Not a God who loves the version of you that shows up dressed and composed on Sunday morning. The God who loves the version of you that lies awake at 2am replaying every mistake you've ever made. That's the God people are desperate for. One who doesn't shift with the trends, doesn't update His terms of service, and doesn't unfollow you when you stumble. An everlasting foundation — not a platform that fades when the next thing comes along.

The world has tried to fill that void. It keeps trying. And it keeps falling short.

The Box the World Puts You In

Here's what the world offers instead: a box. Maybe it's defined by your career. Your achievements. Your politics. Your struggles. Your past. Whatever shape the box takes, it comes with a label — and for a while, it feels like belonging.

But boxes shift. Labels change. And when the culture moves on to the next thing, you're left holding an identity that no longer fits, looking for a new box to climb into. This is the exhausting cycle so many people are living. Chase the definition. Embrace the label. Watch it break. Repeat.

The world will never run out of boxes to offer you. But it can't offer you yourself — not truly. Because it didn't make you. It doesn't know you. And it cannot hold you.

Only the One who formed you can tell you who you are.

What God Says About You

So what does He say?

"For we are God's handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do." — Ephesians 2:10

His masterpiece.

Not a rough draft. Not a mistake in need of correction. Not a project He started and set aside. His masterpiece — crafted with intention, created with purpose, and set in motion before you ever took your first breath. The Greek word used here is poiema — the root of our word "poem." You are God's poem. His work of art. Written with care, with meaning in every line, with nothing wasted and nothing accidental.

The world will hand you a label. God hands you a name.

And that name doesn't shift with the times. It doesn't depend on your performance, your past, or the opinions of people who don't even know your story. It is settled. It is sure. It is written by the hand of the One who spoke the universe into existence — and chose, out of all of it, to call you His own.

Prayer

Lord, thank You for making me with purpose and intention. Forgive me for the times I've let the world define me — for chasing labels that could never hold the weight of who You say I am. Today I choose to lay down the boxes and stand in the truth of Ephesians 2:10. I am Your masterpiece. Help me to live like I believe it. Amen.

A Word of Encouragement

From before the first sunrise, before your name was spoken aloud, God was already at work — crafting something the world had never seen before and will never see again.

You.

Not a copy.

Not a compromise.

A one-of-a-kind masterpiece, made on purpose, for a purpose. The world may have tried to convince you otherwise. But the Artist doesn't make mistakes. And He is so proud of who you are!
