I am a sinner.

It’s an uncomfortable admission — but it’s true.

I sin every day, sometimes multiple times a day. Not always in dramatic or obvious ways, but in subtle ones too: in my thoughts, my words, my pride, my impatience, and my distractions.

From this place of humility and vulnerability, I hope this new series of posts speaks to you. Not from a place of judgment or perfection — but from honesty.

The lie the devil whispers is that we don’t need a Savior — or worse, that we are too broken to be saved. He convinces us we should be able to fix ourselves, or that we are unworthy of God’s grace. The evil one delights in these lies because they keep us trapped — captive to shame, self-effort, and despair.

In this "I Am a Sinner" series, we will expose the lies the enemy wants us to believe and offer encouragement rooted in truth — truth that frees us from his grasp and draws us back to the heart of God.

The Lie of “I’ll Make Up for It”

When we sin, shame often follows. Some call it a conscience. Others call it guilt. But it’s important to understand this truth:

Shame is not punishment from God. It is the price we pay for sin.

God does not shame us because we oppose Him or get distracted from Him. Sin itself is destructive — to our hearts, our relationships, and our souls.

Sin is seductive. It convinces us to justify what is harming us.

We tell ourselves:

  • Just this once

  • I deserve this

  • I’ll make up for it later

Whether it’s feeding addiction, tearing others down to protect our status, clinging to pride, or slowly drifting away from God — every one of us is vulnerable to sin. And the enemy wants us to believe the lie that we must somehow repay the damage ourselves.

The Truth: Jesus Paid It All

Here is the Good News — the Gospel that changes everything:

Jesus paid for all of our sin.

ALL of it.

There is no remaining debt.

No balance due.

No payment plan required.

We do not need to fix our lives before coming to Jesus. We do not need to clean ourselves up first. We simply need to turn back to God — to repent.

Scripture reminds us of this freedom in Romans 8:1–4 (NIV):

Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of sin and death. For what the law was powerless to do because it was weakened by the flesh, God did by sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh to be a sin offering. And so he condemned sin in the flesh, in order that the righteous requirement of the law might be fully met in us, who do not live according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.

This does not mean we continue sinning freely. Our Heavenly Father knows how destructive sin is — not because He wants control, but because He loves us deeply and desires life and wholeness for us.

Grace is not permission to sin - grace is power to be free.

A Prayer of Surrender

Heavenly Father, thank You for Your Son, Jesus, who bore all of my sins on the cross. Thank You for paying a debt I could never repay. I want only to please You and do Your will. I surrender my life to You, trusting that transformation is possible only through Jesus, whom You sent to die for me. Help me walk in freedom, humility, and obedience. Amen.

Encouragement

You are not alone.

We all sin.

We all fall short.

And yet — God made a way.

God knew you before you were born.

He knew every sin before you committed it.

And still — He created you.

Still — He claims you.

Still — He chooses you every single time.

There is no sin greater than His grace. No shame deeper than His mercy. No distance too far for His love to reach. This is the beginning of freedom. This is the beginning of truth. And this is just the start of the journey.
